Project: Priest Rapids Turbine and Generator Building

 

Location: Mattawa, Washington

Construction: New / Addition

Description: 14,353 ft2, two story warehouse / office building

 

The Priest Rapids Turbine and Generator building is the third of several recent projects constructed for the Grant County Public Utility District. The space is new construction provided as an extension to the existing Priest Rapids Dam Powerhouse. It's primary intention was for warehouse and storage space of hydroelectric turbine and generator components. Provisions were included for heavy crane lifting, and mobile welders and equipment up to 600V. A portion of the space was designed for general open space offices on first and second floors.

 

Electrical design included new system service from large existing powerhouse switchgear, fiber optic and communications service, site and exterior lighting, site security, access control and CCTV systems. Extensive grounding was required to comply and integrate with current IEEE Std.80 grounding requirements. Several design challenges were solved for intertie, extension, or relocation of existing systems, services, and structures served from the powerhouse.

 

Building electrical design included power, interior lighting and control, security/access control, fire alarm (multi-system control), communication networks, mechanical equipment intertie with DDC controls of EMS, and coordination of control and monitoring by powerhouse SCADA system

Project: Avista Utilities Fleet Maintenance Building

 

Location: Spokane, Washington

Construction: New

Description:30,000 ft2, Vehicle Maintenance Shop with Office Spaces

 

The Avista Fleet Maintenance Building was designed to serve the growing needs vehicle repair needs of Avista Utilities local Spokane Headquarters fleet. The facility was designed to allow for a much larger maintenance station for the growing vehicle fleet needs of commercial road maintenance equipment local to the Spokane Headquarters location.

 

Electrical design included new system service from large existing powerhouse switchgear, fiber optic and communications service, site and exterior lighting, site security, access control and CCTV systems. Extensive grounding was required to comply and integrate with current IEEE Std.80 grounding requirements. Several design challenges were solved for intertie, extension, or relocation of existing systems, services, and structures served from the powerhouse.

 

Electrical design involved site electrical service, building electrical design including power, interior lighting and coordination of subcontracted designs of Fire Alarm, Communication / Data, CNG and CO detection and equipment operational responses.

Project: Lake Spokane Campground Electrical Service Additions

 

Location: Nine Mile, Washington

Construction: New

Description: New Electrical Service, Site Electrical Infrastructure, and Campground Support Buildings

 

he State of Washington, in conjunction with Washington State Department of Parks and Recreation, and Avista Utilities saw a need to develop more electrical infrastructure to support the growing needs of the Lake Spokane Campground.

 

After performing an initial site investigation it was determined that previous projects had exhausted the majority of site electrical capacity and due to locations of new support buildings being designed, that new primary service feeds would need to be installed to support current projects and to allow for simpler expansions to the electrical service for future projects.

 

Electrical design involved new site primary and secondary electrical services to feed several new support storage structures, campsite power, lighting, restroom and shower structures, and necessary septic equipment.

Project: The Chronicle Building Apartments Fire Alarm Additions

 

Location: Spokane, Washington

Construction: 38,000 sq ft

 

The Chronicle Building Apartments in Spokane, Washington is a multi-story residential apartment complex with modern housing design in a historic building. Evans Engineering provided a new Fire Alarm system with Mass Notification and CO detection to integrate with existing networked fire alarm equipment.

Project: Lincoln County Public Works Mechanics Shop

 

Location: Davenport, Washington

Construction: New

Description: 15,300 ft2, Vehicle Maintenance Shop with Office Space

 

The Lincoln County Public Works Mechanics Shop was designed to serve as a new location for the Lincoln County Road Department maintenance facility. The facility was designed to permit easy access for maintenance and repair of large commercial vehicles for the District.

 

The majority of construction consisted of truck maintenance and service bays. This area required special attention to the electrical needs of existing equipment and machinery to be used as well as overhead cranes, hazard area lubrication pit, and paint booth and prep areas. Other spaces included office, kitchen and other business operation areas, and semi-enclosed vehicle wash bay.

 

Electrical design involved a new site electrical service, with detail to trenching coordination of other utilities to minimize site excavation. Building electrical design included power, interior lighting and control, system design of several pieces of industrial machinery, communications with fiber optic tie-in of existing headquarter offices.

 

Two additional vehicle parking shops were added to the project during the design, as bid alternates. Each with power and lighting requirements particular to the building purpose.

Project: Peak Fitness Second Story Addition

 

Location: Hayden, Idaho

Construction: New expansion

Description: 13,000 ft2, Health and Fitness Club

 

Peak Fitness was a new and modern single story fitness center designed to accommodate indoor tennis courts, cardio equipment, free weights areas, conference and pro staff areas to meet club clientele needs. The facility was initially designed to allow future growth of a second story addition.

 

Construction consisted of expansion of a second story addition with open space appeal for cardio and free weight areas, an added elevator, addition of exercise and yoga rooms, and addition of a basketball court with mezzanine event seating.

 

Electrical design involved expansion of existing service to facilitate a large amount of electronic cardio equipment with video input, LED interior lighting, exterior parking and accent lighting, design of Fire Alarm System, and provisions of Audio/Video Systems.

 

Particular attention was given to the project to blend new construction with existing, while maintaining the quality of function and appeal required for the facility.

Project: Coeur d' Alene Charter Academy Addition

 

Location: Coeur d Alene, Idaho

Construction: New expansion

Description: 7,000 ft2, Charter Academy School Addition

 

Charter Academy is a charter school for 6th through 12th grade education. Due to a growing rise in student body the academy has decided to expand its existing main facility to add additional areas for studies of music and fine arts, and to add needed classroom spaces to accommodate current student body growth.

 

Electrical designed involved coordination with the local utility for expansion of the existing electrical service to allow new construction, design of power, lighting and control, including specialized lighting for specialty art areas, Fire Alarm, and network communications.

Project: Anthony's Restaurant at Riverstone

 

Location: Coeur d'Alene, Idaho

Construction: New

Description: 6,300 ft2, Fine Dining Restaurant

 

Anthony's Restaurant was designed in the new Riverstone multi-use development near the Coeur d'Alene river. The building was designed with architectural aspects characteristic to Anthony's cuisine design approach. A large effort was put into detailed interior and exterior lighting to compliment the Anthony's atmosphere and experience.

 

Electrical design include new site service, and site lighting complimentary to the Riverstone development. Building electrical design included power, interior lighting, exterior lighting including eating areas, lighting control system, Fire Alarm system, specialty kitchen equipment, and communication systems infrastructure.

 

A natural gas generator system with automatic transfer was added to the design for operation during temporary outages.

Project: Scafco Playfair Commerce Park AMI Metals Build Out

 

Location: Spokane, Washington

Construction: New

Description: 75,000 ft2, Manufacturing facility and warehouse with Office Space

 

Design of the project began as a shell facility for future tenant build. Later design included modifications to mold to tenant build needs.

 

In the first phase of construction Evans Engineering was involved as part of a design build to design a new facility electrical service for owner and future tenant loads based on owner expected tenant requirements. Design included exterior lighting, interior lighting and power, and initial Fire Alarm design with expansion for future build out.

 

Evans Engineering was again contracted during the second phase of construction for the tenant build of AMI Metals. Design of the second phase involved reconfiguration of system service to allow for a large quantity of industrial machine loads, interior lighting and control, and expansion of the Fire Alarm system to manufacturing, warehouse, and office space areas.

Project: Wanapum Archeology Building

 

Location: Beverly, Washington

Construction: Remodel

Description: 2,800 ft2, Visitor Center to Archeology Lab Construction

 

The existing Wanapum Dam Heritage Center was vacated to a new facility in support of local heritage and cultures. The existing facility is scheduled to be remodeled to allow secure and localized housing of the District Archeology Department.

 

Electrical design included reconfiguration of system service and panels, design of power, lighting and lighting control, Fire Alarm, and Access Control systems. Particular attention was complex issues of existing systems required, historic status of system components, and overall natural aesthetic appeal of current cultures.

Project: Wanapum Maintenance Center Phase 3, Hydro Office Building*

 

Location: Beverly, Washington

Construction: New

Description: 35,678 ft2, two story multi-use office building

 

The Wanapum Hydro Electric Division (HED) office building (HOB) is the third of a multi-project series constructed for the Grant County Public Utility District. The space consists primarily of District offices, but also included areas of public use such as an Interpretive Center for display of local native history, kitchen facilities, as well as meeting and gathering rooms. It was constructed at the base of Wanapum Dam and designed to incorporate local heritage, and absorb the natural surroundings.

 

Electrical design included new system service, fiber optic and communications service, site and exterior lighting, site security, access control and CCTV systems. Extensive grounding was required to comply and integrate with current IEEE Std.80 grounding requirements.

 

Building electrical design included power, interior lighting and control, security/access control, fire alarm, and communications including wireless LAN and District WAN networks, mechanical equipment intertie with BAS controls, and segregation of critical UPS backed loads for DNR operation.

Project: Clearwater Valley Medical Clinic*

 

Location: Orofino, Idaho

Construction: New

Description: 21,142 ft2, single story medical and rehabilitation clinic

 

The Clearwater Valley Medical Clinic is intended to serve as an extension to the Clearwater Valley Hospital. The facility is situated a short distance from the hospital and designed for medical treatments, examinations, and physical therapy use.

 

Electrical design included new system service, fiber optic and communications service, as well as site and exterior lighting with particular attention to aesthetics and neighboring residential areas.

 

Building electrical design included power, X-Ray and other medical equipment, interior lighting and control, fire alarm, communications, and initial layout and rough in for future owner installed access control, CCTV, and audio/visual systems.
